There are many treatments that are no longer offered via the NHS as they are classed as ‘cosmetic’. These can include a multitude of treatments such as: Removal of skin tags, moles, warts, solar lentigines (sun/age/liver spots), cherry angioma and many more benign skin lesions; small areas of fat reduction; thread or spider vein removal and many more. At Age with Elegance Medical Aesthetics & Skin Care we can offer many of these treatments to improve cosmetic results. A consultation is advised to discuss your concerns and expected outcomes, and a mode of treatment will be recommended if deemed appropriate.
Excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a common, harmless condition, which can start during puberty. Usually as we reach adulthood, the symptoms cease and we can go on with our everyday lives as normal. However, if it continues indefinitely, it can drastically affect our confidence, wellbeing and even our personal relationships and working situations. Hyperhidrosis can occur on several parts of the body such as the armpits, hands, feet, back and even on the face. This condition can dramatically affect our lives, from choosing certain clothing to attending social gatherings. Many topical treatments for hyperhidrosis contain harsh chemicals, which can burn, or irritate the skin and in many cases, are unsuccessful in the long-term. Here at Age with Elegance Medical Aesthetics & Skin Care, we offer a fast and highly-effective, injectable treatment for under arm sweating, using Botulinium Toxin A, for hyperhidrosis which can offer results that last up to 6 months at a time. Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a natural protein which has been used for various conditions for many years. When it is injected into a specific area such as the armpits, it will immobilise the sweat glands, dramatically reducing excess sweating. Although this is a temporary treatment, which is required every 6 to 9 months, it can dramatically improve the symptoms of hyperhidrosis and improve the lives of those who experience it, long-term. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to the skin prior to treatment. The skin will be cleansed and the sweat pores highlighted. A series of very small injections will be administered to the area to disperse the Botulinium Toxin A into the sweat glands and immobilise their secretions. The treatment should take up 30 minutes and there is no significant aftercare or downtime following this treatment. The treatment may take up to 14 days to become fully effective and you can expect to experience up to a 95% reduction in sweat excretion, making a significant improvement to everyday life.
